The 2026 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo on Kalkadoon country, Queensland, has drawn one of the largest and most diverse fields in Australian rodeo, with almost 800 competitor starts, including 200 females and 240 juniors, from every state and New Zealand.

The event also hosted the Indigenous Rodeo Championships, a showcase for First Nations talent and the deep history of Indigenous stockmen and graziers. Despite exploitation and discrimination, their traditional knowledge, exceptional horsemanship and hard work have kept Australia’s vast cattle and sheep industries running for generations
