Michael West reports that Labor was looking at winding back diesel fuel rebates for big miners and taxing gas exporters, before both ideas were suddenly junked. An insider told MWM that “We can’t afford another fight with BHP”, echoing the campaign that helped bring down Kevin Rudd in 2010.
