Authorities are responding to reports of active shooters at Bondi Beach in Sydney’s east.

Officers arrived on the scene just before 7pm on Sunday.

“Police are responding to a developing incident at Bondi Beach and are urging the public to avoid the area,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Anyone at the scene should take shelter.

“Police are on scene and more information will be provided when it comes to hand.”

Emergency services are also on the scene.

Multiple videos posted to social media show two gunmen, standing on a footbridge connecting Campbell Parade to the Bondi Pavilion, firing shots into a crowd.

The men could be seen firing guns into the crowd as people screamed.

Broadcaster Erin Molan was in the area and said she heard gunshots.

“We can hear gunshots in Bondi … this is terrifying. Take cover. Active incident,” she posted on X.

A spokesperson for Anthony Albanese said the prime minister was aware of the incident.

“We are aware of an active security situation in Bondi,” the spokesperson said.

“We urge people in the vicinity to follow information from NSW Police.”
