Showcasing an array of exclusive cars, the Official Auction of the Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 17, 2023, will boast a lineup of cars with a combined value of over $70 million. Headlined by the rare Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Coupe and Roadster, the impressive lineup is set for sale by RM Sotheby’s and the event will be hosted by famed British entertainer James Corden in association with Wynn Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
During one of the most anticipated events of 2023, the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, the Awakening Theater at the Wynn Las Vegas will be the setting for these stunning hypercars. “Set against the backdrop of one of the most anticipated events of the year…this auction isn’t just a sale; it’s poised to be an unforgettable event. In the heart of Las Vegas, we’re confident that such a diverse and exotic collection of cars will be unmatched in its excitement,” said Bryon Madsen, President, of RM Sotheby’s.
This event will present a rare opportunity for collectors to feast their eyes on some amazing cars like the 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Coupe and an even rarer 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster. For the first time ever, both a Coupe and Roadster will be presented together in a single auction, showcasing the finest and best-engineered racing sports cars ever produced.
Starting with the rarer of the two, the 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster is the third of only six ever made. Boasting a 6.9-liter V12 engine which outputs 604 horsepower and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, this car reaches over 200 mph. With a mileage of 170 kilometers at the time of cataloging, this stunning piece of engineering has an estimated value of $10,500,000 – $13,000,000.
Equally impressive, the 1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Coupe is the seventh of just 20 examples and was meticulously crafted by AMG’s Special Vehicle Construction Office and HWA AG to homologate their championship-winning FIA GT1 race car. Showing fewer than 4,358 miles at the time of cataloging, it has an estimated value of $8,000,000 – $9,000,000.
“With the inclusion of the iconic CLK GTRs, Lewis Hamilton’s first winning F1 car with Mercedes-AMG Petronas, and an exquisite array of other vehicles, we’re bringing an ensemble to the Wynn Las Vegas that perfectly encapsulates our ambition,” said Bryon Madsen, President, RM Sotheby’s.
